Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Copyright Legal Assistant to support our legal team in all matters related to U.S. and international copyright law. The ideal candidate will assist with copyright registration, documentation, infringement research, and client communications, ensuring compliance with legal deadlines and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Copyright Registration & Documentation

  • Prepare and file copyright applications with the U.S. Copyright Office (or relevant foreign authorities)

  • Maintain organized records of registered works, ownership chains, and licensing agreements

  • Track filing deadlines, renewal dates, and correspondence with copyright offices

Legal Research & Case Support

  • Conduct research on copyright ownership, fair use, public domain status, and infringement precedents

  • Summarize statutes, case law, and regulatory updates for attorneys

  • Assist in drafting cease-and-desist letters, DMCA takedown notices, and counter-notices

Client & Administrative Support

  • Communicate with clients regarding documentation, filing status, and basic legal procedures

  • Prepare and organize exhibits, affidavits, and other legal documents for disputes or litigation

  • Maintain case management databases and electronic filing systems

  • Coordinate with foreign counsel on international copyright matters when needed
