Agar.io is a simple yet highly addictive online multiplayer game where you control a small cell in a petri dish-like arena. The goal is straightforward: eat smaller cells to grow bigger while avoiding being eaten by larger players.

Originally released in 2015, Agar.io quickly became a viral hit thanks to its easy-to-understand mechanics and competitive gameplay.

Gameplay Overview

At the start, you spawn as a tiny cell. As you move around the map, you consume:

  • Small pellets (food scattered across the map)
  • Other players smaller than you

But survival isn’t that easy—bigger cells can absorb you instantly.

Key Mechanics:

 

  • Movement: Your cell follows your mouse (or finger on mobile)
  • Split (Spacebar): Divide your cell to attack or move faster
  • Eject Mass (W key): Feed teammates or bait enemies
  • Viruses: Green spiky objects that can split large cells
